另,刚给我老公放了一遍,他没有因为这个片儿觉得中国是个威胁,他的感受是,forward it to me, I want to see it again. Its interesting. I learned sth.

Steve,

Yes, Steve, at the moment Tibet signed the Agreement and the People's Liberation Army marched into Tibet, it becomes a part of China. There is no reason for others to say anything about Chinese way of ruling. However, human rights concern all people. I hope that the Chinese government will take good care of this issue.
It concerns the human race.

I agree that many people in the U.S. have the wrong impression about China's sovereignty over Tibet.

Hmm, I didn't know Richard Gere was a Buddhist.

I know almost nothing about that period. Mar 19, 2008

Frankly speaking, I know nearly nothing about Tibet during that period. Human rights are never given by someone else. They are yours by birth and you have to protect them by yourself. If the Tibetans didn't fight for their liberation, that was their bad luck. If they don't fight for their rights, that's bad for them now. As stated above, my opinion is clear: It is after all a matter of Chinese inner politics and I am no one to judge.

However, a simple conviction: Others' wrong-doings do not justify our wrong-doings.

Right or wrong?

As said, I am definitely not the one to judge because I am not there and I don't know what exactly happens. The pictures give me a weird impression: People with no firearms fight against military vehicles --- that must be some fury!

Democracy, law and order are never something from no ground. You could never tell who were the evil-doers, the KMT or the CCP? But we know from the history that the mass decided to expel the KMT.

What we nowadays enjoy in Taiwan was not from nowhere, either. We have been fighting against the KMT and have achieved the direct election of our legislators to the Parliament and the direct election of the President. It took quite a while before we have achieved all these and we don't intend to go back to street fights like what happened some twenty/thirty years ago or like what happens in Tibet now.

I don't know what is right or wrong in Tibet now. Let me just sit back and wait for the result.

For inquisitive mind, I recommend the book The Snow lion and the Dragon. Or, simply check encyclopedia britannica for information about that period.

Nothing can justify one's own wrong-doings, not even the wrong-doings of others.

Thanks for your opinion.
