I have already explained, KudoZ points are not transferable, but BrowniZ are transferable. I need only 4000 BrowniZ to save 40 bucks and I can give the rest of my easily earned to anyone who needs them.
It is clear to all of us that KudoZ points are not helpful in anyway. But BrowniZ can save you or anyone whom they got transferred to some bucks when you want to join in or want to renew membership.
Crystal, neither you nor I would give away our money. BrowniZ, yes, to anyone who needs them.

I have not seen this way of learning grammar before. It does not seem to be efficient either. KudoZ is designed mainly for the translators who have questions in their translation projects and have exhausted all the resources, then post their questions there to find from the peers the most appropriate translation within the given context. By reading this KudoZ question, the asker turned it into an English grammar learning and debating ground by quoting the examples from his grammar book. I agree that he should post that question in the English-English KudoZ section. It is amazing that he got that many people helping him.

有時人們會一時忘記，KudoZ 或 Forum 的存在是為了讓大家有個文明的平台，藉以交換意見、切磋琢磨、互相幫助，因此不經意地會表現得太過於認真，以為在這個地方是要跟別人競賽英文、中文程度，所以不敢以自己真實的面目示人，有時表現得過於倨傲，有時卻又過於謙卑。

You are right. It is amazing that he got so many wonderful people helping him even with such an elementary question! In English speaking countries, even a pupil knows he or she should use "must have been" under such a circumstance. Since the asker refused accepting all the correct opinions from so many peers in the Chinese-English KudoZ section, I suggested twice to him that he should post that question in the English-English KudoZ section, but the asker simply refused by saying "go not to native speakers but to grammar books"! In fact, his grammar book is a bad one. If I hadn't posted his question in the English-English KudoZ section for him, the debate would go forever! This is a perfect example of 死要面子活受罪!

It seems to me that he is particularly interested in the process of such head-spinning discussions, and does not really care much about the result of it. He might have had the answer before he posted such question. As we all know, a grammar book is only a reference tool, which inevitably contains human errors depending on the author's command of English. A reference tool is for reference only. It is not the Bible or the Constitution.

Finally, Bill showed the courage to accept the correct answer "I must HAVE BEEN drunk last night" and stated that he was going to change his attitude. That's a good sign. Let's wait and see.
I think the reason he got confused is that either his grammar book is wrong or he went to the wrong section (the usage of perfect tense). The key issue in this question is the usage of "must". Longman Contemporary English-Chinese Dictionary 《朗文现代英汉双解词典》 (p920-921) has a clear and detailed explanation in this respect. The English edition of this dictionary was highly recommended by the eminent British linguist Randolph Quirk. I think 《朗文英语语法大全》 would also have such explanations.

2. to be, do, etc., very probably or certainly (past "must have") 必定；非常可能 (过去式为must have): I think they must have left early. 我想他们一定早已走了.

It is inevitable for someone to make a mistake. As long as he admits and corrects the mistake, he is still a "good comrade". I wish I could believe that Bill "must have been drunk" when he made those mistakes!
