这里中文报纸说，中国地方政府采取限价措施，长沙地区方便面限价每包十元。这种限价管用吗？如果饿急了100元一包也会有人买。我们这里往往一美元可以买十包方便面。庄稼都冻死了，老百姓的艰难日子还在后头。这样严重的灾害应该可以申请联合国救济。美国若出现这种情况，联邦政府就会宣布这些地区为国家级灾区，拨专款支援。

现在也是如此，一有灾情，首先出现在救灾现场的就是人民子弟兵解放军。

美国“少爷兵”也还不赖，路易斯安娜遭受风灾、水灾时，国民警卫队也出动救灾。附近几个州也伸出援手，德州也协助安置了不少难民。当然灾区也有一些歹徒趁机发国难财，抢劫商店住户，但政府出动警察、国民警卫队戒严维持秩序。有一阵子，商店里的食品、矿泉水以及其它生活必需用品被抢购一空，但好像没听说有趁机哄抬物价的现象。一方面政府会管，另一方面，这种行为是传统美国人所不齿的。我想这跟他们的信仰有很大关系，信教的都要“每日三省吾身”。拿句老话说，就是“早请示，晚汇报”。人还是得有点信仰的。
