SDL Trados 2015: Source segments cannot be merged

Hello,

I am working on SDL Trados 2015 version. The major problem is with the merging of two segments even when they are from the same paragraph. Although the segments consist of a continuous line, it has been unnecessarily divided after the non-seperable prefix of German verb. I tried everything but the option to join/merge the divided segments found to be grayed out. Most probably poor OCR practice is the culprit. If your source PDF file was converted into a docx file and not prepared before importing it into Trados, that may cause OCR-related issues.
