im about to write my MA paper on machine translation but since the paper should be only 30-40 pages >>>i need to narrow it down>>>so please give me some ideas about what to include>>>>by the way there must sth of my contribution...so i prefer to be like questionarrie and then analysis of results or sth like that....but the picture is not clear in my mind....so...

You do not need to hide so much. You can state where you live and what your native language is - these are things to be proud of. And perhaps more background about you may help to throw more light on how you could tackle your MA paper - perhaps looking at what MT resources are available in the languages that you know, how useful the output is, what purposes the output may be useful for etc.
For more material on MT, you could do a forum search for "Jeff Allen" - an expert on the subject who actually uses MT for serious work (but in a defined context and with suitable preparation).

I wrote my thesis on machine translation way back when (1997), and the most interesting aspect to me was situations in which MT was used successfully and what was required to make this possible.

i hope nobody will mind a little laugh in this. it is not exactly in tune with the topic, but reading about machine translation brought back to mind some of the translations i have had to correct as a teacher. the most hilarious one is the one that i quoted in the title. the student tried to convince me that he had translated on his own, but one look at his paper told me that he had used an automatic translator. and one of the sentences was just that one - a laughing little city rising on thre... They meet and publish articles on a large variety of specific topics related to MT, some more computer oriented and some more linguistically oriented.
