Italian term

meato d’acqua protettiva

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Fire protection
This is a blog article on fire protection systems that compares gypsum-coated slabs to slabs in cementitious matrix or calcium silicate:

"Le lastre a matrice cementizia o in calcio silicato non liberano il meato d’acqua protettiva del solfato di calcio, ma hanno una grande resistenza meccanica nei confronti dell’aggressione termica del fuoco."

I would appreciate your help with the translation of the term "meato d’acqua protettiva".

In English ‘meatus’ is restricted to anatomy.
philgoddard Dec 13, 2020:
I wonder if it could be a typo.

protective water meatus

Dear colleague, there are many texts on Google in which the expression "water meatus" is used. The text I quoted is a university thesis. I'd use "protective" for "protettiva". Hope it helps.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Michele Fauble : Those google hits are non-native translations from Italian, typos for water meter and separate terms (water, meatus). In English ‘meatus’ is restricted to anatomy.

protective water channel

In English ‘meatus’ is restricted to anatomy. I think you could use ‘channel’.
