German term

gut sagen

German to English Law/Patents Law (general) Liability claim
Bitte Klage sofort zustellen, Gerichtskosten in Höhe von 879,00 € werden als Verrechnungsscheck bezahlt, für dessen Einlösung sich die Prozessbevollmächtigte der Klägerin gut sagt.

What does this actually mean? The court costs are paid by collection-only check, the payment of which is guaranteed by the plaintiff's attorney? Is guaranteed going too far?

Discussion

Chris Pr Mar 3, 2020:
Linguistic entry... ..."vouch for" in terms of a legally-binding obligation...really...?
Björn Vrooman Mar 3, 2020:
Hello Elizabeth As noted by Vittorio, gutsagen should be one word (which, according to the Duden, means [sich] verbürgen). Has been that way for quite a long time: http://woerterbuchnetz.de/cgi-bin/WBNetz/wbgui_py?sigle=DWB&...

In any case, I think you've figured this out already.

Regarding Verrechnungsscheck, please see Victor's answer at https://www.proz.com/kudoz/german-to-english/marketing-marke...

I agree with him; I don't think you should use collection. See also:

secure (assure payment of)

"Vouch for" is far too weak a term for a legally-binding payment obligation....

Definition: to assure payment of

http://www.memidex.com/secure assure-payment-of
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : I agree with your comment about vouching, but I think "secure" is wrong.

'wrong' I believe is not the 'right' choice..."...payment of which will be secured by the plaintiff's attorney..", to use the Asker's own phraseology.
