I am translating a friend's marriage certificate (the very first certificate of this type I have seen). One of the documents is entitled "Fede di matrimonio" and I am at a loss as to what this "fede" means here or how to translate it. It was issued by the church she married in.

Does it just mean "Certificate of marriage"?

Google does not help as "fede" + "matrimonio" just brings up wedding rings :(

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It is a very simple and basic marriage certificate. Person x married person Y on this day at this place. "Fede di matrimonio", as stated, is the heading of the certificate. Nothing else. That is why I know it is not the rings. I suspect it is a catholic church way of saying "evidence, proof".

You should understand From the context if it is a certificate, it is difficult for us without context :)
