A practical atheism exists in the church that is far more deadly than its bolder and more openly defiant brother. It wears the garb of Christianity and can even confess Jesus as Lord, but it rarely consults His will on a practical level. It may ask God to join in a purpose that has already been determined or to bless a plan already designed. It may even acknowledge His help in an endeavor, but it usually offers only a residual gratitude, the table scraps that remain after the glory of man
has been satisfied.
