English term

let's hit the town

English to French Other Cosmetics, Beauty video subtitle
Hello all,

I need help to translate a slang. Of course, I know what it means. It happened that I even used it in Canada but I'm looking for a cool translation that can fit perfectly for a make-up tutorial video which used slang terms to talk about new trends.
If anyone can help me and have something that could be used easily in France to convey this idea, I would be grateful.
I'm looking for something else that "amusons-nous".

Context: end of a video tutorial where a make-up artist have made a make-up which is Downtown trend. The girl is now so pretty that she's going to go with other "hit the town".

Many thanks for your help

Discussion

Exactly. That's why I asked the question. I think that "la ville est à nous" or something like that could fit in my case. It conveys the meaning while it stays a bit classy.
Tony M Jun 3, 2013:
town I think the key point here in the source term is 'town' — i.e. bright lights, nightlife, sophisticated venues, ... Think "Puttin' on the Ritz" etc.

I'd try and get away from the idea of 'living it up', 'getting drunk', 'going on a bender', etc. which I'm sure don't really quite convey the image required here.

Note from asker:
j'aime beaucoup votre proposition, malheureusement la vidéo est destinée à une publication mondiale. Donc je ne peux malheureusement pas utiliser un nom en particulier.
