Some of the words you just used to describe problem, describe issue much betterL
a concern, question or complaint. A condition implies that the problem has been diagnosed while a problem may be a newly peceived problem about to be diagnosed/discovered.

Right, yes this is the gist but some of the words you mention including problem are not interchangeable. Condition isn]t the same as concern or question or complaint; a problem is generally seen as a condition that has been diagnosed or perceived.

Hi Carmen. My understanding is that an "issue" is something that concerns the patient: a problem, a complaint, a condition, a question, a concern...It could be something the patient was "just curious" about, it could be that they have so much pain they can barely walk, or anything in between.

con't: also the word problem is negative in register while issue(asunto)is not. A negative attitude on the patient's part can lengthen his/her treatment, thus the provider would be wise to use the word "issue" to minimize the possibility of negativism!

As I am understanding this, it doesn't ouright say "problem" but rather issue, which in my opinion is an important semantic consideration. A medical problem is different than an issue-"issue" is more general in scope in that it could include problems also

oops, something was repeated,the whole phrase in quotes should read :

"...el período requerido para su cuidado(tratamiento) dependerá de los asuntos de salud que usted tenga que resolver(que tenga pendientes)."

delete the repeated part: "que de los asuntos de salud..."

Suena mejor cambiando "su" cudado(tratamiento) a "el" cuidado (tratamiento)

Note: I opted for "asuntos de salud" rather than "problemas de salud" because issues are more challenges than problems (it depends on the outlook of the patient and provider--the more positive they see the picture, the sooner the patient can improve!)

...la duración de su terapia dependerá del problema que le afecte/dependerá de su caso particular..

cuando se habla de terapias alternativas (no de Medicina tradicional), suele emplearse ese término "terapia" en lugar de "tratamiento"

agree Carmen Schultz : prefiero la frase que concluye: ..".dependerá de su caso particular" ya que se trata de un "asunto" (issue) y no un problema arraigado o serio--puede ser una simple queja pasajera que se pase con una manipulación de quiropráctica
