I am an interpreter... May 15

of the texts that I translate...

(Now, seriously, at the beginning of my career I did some consecutive interpretation work for the commercial section of an embassy in Lisbon and for a visiting delegation of the then European Community.)

"primarily specialize" May 15

Personally, I think "primarily specialize" is a very unique formulation.

I lack the quick tongue needed to be an interpreter. I love working with the written word. Immediacy is not my specialty! Although, like Ana, I do interpret the texts I translate…

Actually, I'm a bit worried not seeing Tom for so long. I definitely miss him.

For example, in an IEP meeting, sometimes they read parts from the draft IEP and all I have to do it sight translate it. Or they use it as a basis for what they say, which still reduces what I have to remember during consecutive interpreting. That is the easiest method for me.

When I am in simultaneous mode, I prefer that we use headsets because I know I can be heard better than chuchotage (whispering).

I gave interpreting a try once, a long time ago, but.... May 15

.... my problem was/is my voice. They couldn't make head or tails of what I said, simply because they didn't understand me. That is also why I never became a world famous singer.
