Bio
I have been raised bilingually in English and Dutch, and have lived in Switzerland, Canada, Japan and the Netherlands. I studied Illustration at Musashino Bijyutsu Gakuen, Graphic Design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, and Languages & Cultures of Japan at Leiden University. I currently work freelance as both a translator and a designer.
17th-century Dutch
The Dutch East India Company produced many communiqués and records in the 17th century, involving their colonisation of Taiwan and the East Indies. I have had the pleasure of producing translations of their complex writings.
Japanese in Art and History
I have experience translating Japanese art history related articles, both academic and commercial, working with and interpreting for Japanese artists, and assisting eminent Japanese art historians doing research in kuzushi-ji and woodblock prints.
Japanese Service
When Japan Airlines still offered flights at Schiphol Airport, I assisted passengers as one of the Japanese-speaking ground crew. I have also worked as a translator/cabin attendant on board flights by Arkefly, which brought Japanese tour groups to various locations in Europe and home again.
