Italian term

sommità femminili

Italian to English Law/Patents Nutrition plant part
The above is listed as one of the parts of a plant (in this case CANNABIS INDICA LAM.) from which a product is derived.
This parts are usually in Latin (sumitas, radix, etc.) but in this list is in Italian.
My understanding is that usually summitas are twigs, but what are sommita femminili here?
TIA

Discussion

Clifford Marcus (asker) Oct 4, 2009:
Not sure... see below Plant Parts in Latin and their Meaning and Use in the Binomial
Google on the above (sorry but I can't see how to give URL, it downloads a doc straight away) and you'll the see the kind of thing I mean. These are standard (usually Latin) plant part names. in the rest of my text these are in Latin, not Italian.

Peer comment(s):

agree SJLD : female though, not feminine/In botany, one speaks of male and female parts, not masculine and feminine. Feminine is a quality meaning womanly.
