Like on old Lambrettas, Vespas and the Indians

Here you can see the front fork with the wheel behind it, wheel being pulled (tirata) by the link to the fork.

And here in English
Front suspension was trailing link with springs inside the front forks

Means wheel is behind front forks and “pulled” by a trailing link that goes between wheel axle and bottom of fork.

Various types of front suspension including trailing link with wheel behind fork and leading link with wheel in front of fork (still used on choppers with springers today)

Hi Marco,
Sure you can translate it, it’s really a lot simpler in English than the Italian.

Anteriormente è invece presente la sospensione del tipo a ruota tirata con levette oscillanti inferiori e molla unica centrale.

really just
Trailing link front suspension with a single central spring.

Might be quite similar to the design used by Indian, it was quite common (still is) to copy other people’s designs when something worked. If you look at that pic of the Indian you can’t see a coil spring (later design). There’s a single central leaf spring which apparently worked quite well as it beat the pants off the competition at the time.

The suspension on that is leaf spring trailing link on the front with a rigid (hardtail) rear.

One of the first three Indian bikes ever built was shipped to London in 1901. Ten years later, Indian shocked the British establishment by finishing 1-2-3 in the first Senior TT held on the mountain circuit in the Isle of Man. By then, Indian had already adopted their leaf spring trailing link from fork later copied by BMW.
