French term

sang circulant

French to English Medical Genetics FRE Canadian/transcript of a meeting on the treatment of CMV in transplant patients
it's not the same thing as 'whole blood', is it?

Vous savez que le CMV comme tous les virus herpétiques vont induire une latence et possiblement dans le cas du CMV dans les monocytes macrophages du **sang circulant** et les cellules pro génitrices de la moelle osseuse.

Discussion

Angela Dickson (X) Oct 12, 2005:
Another possibility is 'peripheral blood' which is also used to denote blood that is in circulation as opposed to stored in bone marrow.
Sandra C. (asker) Oct 11, 2005:
Georges no pun intended
Sandra C. (asker) Oct 11, 2005:
thank you all!
Georges: point taken! :-)

you probably can omit circulating since it is obvious that the blood is always circulating. the notion carried here by circulating is the one that Gilles pointed out.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Michael Barnett : Not exactly. The "circulating blood" is distinguished from blood in the bone marrow, (which has not yet entered the circulation). That is the way the expression is usually meant.
