LES QUALITÉS OU GRADES
Le terme qualité ou grade désigne les caractéristiques naturelles de l’essence qui y sont admises. Chacun des grades possède ses caractéristiques propres en terme de couleurs naturelles et *n’est habituellement en rien de qualité inférieure à un autre*. De plus, chacune des qualités devrait être associée à des informations sur la longueur minimale des lamelles, et plus important encore, sur leur longueur moyenne.

Je crois comprendre le sens de la phrase mais je la trouve un peu bizarre. Pourquoi dire ça ? Quelqu'un peut m'éclairer ?

is what it means.....Canadian French, I assume....wood processing industry

in other words the COLOR of the wood has nothing to the quality of the wood

For me, this makes more sense - to talk of 'one and the other' implies that there are only two under consideration, when in fact there are several grades under discussion.
