I just received an assignment that includes a Trados memory in txt format, I tried using it directly with Wordfast and it does not work, apparently I have to create a Wordfast memory and import the Trados memory, but I just can't figure out how to do this - can anyone help me? Please - idiot proof instructions!!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!

SDL Trados 2006 or SDL Trados 2007 Apr 13, 2007

Hi,

I have been able to do this, by using SDL Trados 2006 or SDL Trados 2007.

1) Start Trados Workbench
2) Create a new TM (File > New)
3) Import the .txt file that your customer sent you (File > Import)
4) Export the TM as a .tmx file (I chose TMX 1.1) (File > Export and choose the TMX option)
5) Go to Wordfast
6) Go to f > Translation Memory > TM > Select TM
7) Choose the .tmx file that you just created and that has your exporte

I suppose you have the Wordfast version with a license, i.e. the one that allows you to create over 500 segments.

Please contact me if this sounds confusing.

I hope this helps,
Patricia

Thanks Apr 13, 2007

Thanks so much! Turns out you need to install PlusTools to do this - which I had not done. I am a "hit the ground running" software user - I install it, give it some clicks and use whatever I can figure out...

have a great weekend!

Remember to reorganise the tm Apr 15, 2007

I usually export from Trados WB into tmx 1.1-format and open this in Wf. But before Wf can find the translation units you usually have to reorganise.
Wf will create the TM as txt.
Regards
Heinrich
