Hello,
has anyone sat an EU accreditation test for freelance interpreters? Could you please share your experience and/or provide some tips?

Easy texts, tough exam.
They usually give you something either very general or something that's currently on the news, nothing technical, nothing that requires thorough EU knowledge. They give you slow speed and clear wording and expect great precision and good delivery in return.
The Hungarian committees are usually very nice and friendly, but they usually throw out at least 3/4 of the candidates...

I agree that they give you easy texts but then they require perfect interpretation with all the details, especially in the consecutive.
pay attention to small details, irony, punches, if you can get that through you'll impress them.

Hi,
I recently sat the exam and i agree entirely with what the other posts say. The EU does require a very high level of accuracy. However, when i sat my test i wasn't given a classic 'test style' speech (dealing with a broad social/topical issue). I was surprised to be given a text for French simultaneous which was very formal and was, in fact, a re-hash of a speech given by the French Finance Minister.

I let the unusual text throw me, so my advice would be to prepare for every eventuality, stay calm (easier said than done) and not get your hopes up too high as they do reject the majority of candidates.
