This interesting movie was sent to my box by my client. It's a little long but absolutely worth watching. Buffaloes, crocodiles and lions, who wins the last battle?

Can you say 纸老虎? Jun 15, 2007

Amazing. That lion that got tossed into the air must have sustained some serious injuries.

You hear about people getting gored or trampled to death in the annual running of the bulls in Spain -- It's just crazy.

It's always such a vivid reminder for human that nature is full of survival instinct. Those lions seemed young and in-experienced--they really should have not messed up with buffaloes (especially in a big hurd). A grown-up baffaloe is a serious matter in Africa apparently, I heard it is the second most dangerous animal just after rhino to tourists. I suspect those lions will continue to follow the baffalo herd until the injured young one fall behind again.

Big cats are one of my favourite, on the contrast, crocodile is one of the least.

I always heard that Kruger National Park in South Africa is a great place to see animal, but I never thought you can have such a close encounter, thrilling.

Gegen Torheit ist keine Kraut gewachsen. Jun 15, 2007

When hunger is greater than fear, injuries do not mean anything at all. However, I am amazed that buffaloes have such communication skills to summon up the herd for the protection of their youngs. So far I know, they would form a circle and put their youngs in the middle when they sense danger. Such intelligence shown in the video seems to be staged.

Well, what happens with the Spanish bull running is some kind of religion. There isn't any herb against religious zeal anyway, like the Germans would say: Gegen Torheit ist keine Kraut gewachsen. (There isn't any herb grown against stupidity.)

Incredible (Spoiler Alert!!) Jun 15, 2007

I was a little upset when the parent buffaloes didn't do anything and just left when it all started. I am so glad I was wrong. Thrilled to see the calf was still alive. Wonder whether he will survive though.

Obviously buffaloes are not meat-eaters-- they just chased the predators out and left them alone.

Thank you Jianjun for bringing it here. This is truly incredible.

These animals prove themselves great strategists in times of danger.

Who would expect a horse could do this to a lion?

Jianjun,

Are you sure this is the right link you intended? What I got was a funeral ritual performed by Tibetan monks.

Revenge ... of the weak Jul 19, 2007

但是 of the weak
