The Be Cointreauversial Show vs 君度秀 Thread poster: Kenneth Woo
|
I am sure this term was coined by the famous French spirits brand Cointreau. By doing a bit of research, I've found that it has an existing Chinese translation, i.e. 君度秀. Knowing no French, I was wondering if 君度 actually means something or is just some meaningless transliteration.
Can anyone help? Thanks!

謝謝米拉釋疑。不過,人名前的be和人名後的versial何解呢?

So any meaning must have been added in the translation process!

暗示了 controversial: 可以理解为热烈、与众不同、独特、不受限制的

http://www.burrp.com/know/dita-von-teese-be-cointreauversial-37011
She’s risqué, she’s bold and she’s one of a kind. Meet Dita Von Teese, the biggest name in burlesque with the smallest waist. This woman, known for bringing back the glamour and allure of old Hollywood stars, regularly tops international best-dressed lists. She is also the brand ambassador of Cointreau.
In demand all over the world, Dita’s signature performance is when she performs an old fashioned strip tease that culminates with her bathing herself in an oversized Cointreau glass.
From the horse’s mouth …
What does « Be Cointreauversial » mean for you?
To be Cointreauversial is not to be provocative... it’s about the combination of sensuality and elegance, and the slightly risque. It’s about creating glamour. I love the tagline "be Cointreauversial" because for me, that means living life to its fullest, and being who you want to be no matter who disapproves. If you seek approval from anyone and everyone, you have nothing.

So the show is basically a “high-class” strip tease show. As Phil explained, the name of the show is a play on the words “Be Controversial” (an imperative, 祈使句). I’m sure you can imagine, a strip tease is not everyone’s cup of tea, hence to put on such a show is “being controversial”.

Ken, 你在學習預備中? | |

cllick on the small arrows in front to hear the pronunciations by Vangel(female) and Sabir(male), both from France.
YouTube has some clips too, but those pronunciations are probably Anglicized.

如君度般的秀
對。
再詳細一點,或者可以演繹為:
君度 = 君子風度
秀 = show 的諧音 =》 展現
“君子風度的展現”
與美女把酒談歡,男士需展示 ”君子風度“,製造浪漫氣氛,共度美好時光。

Thanks Steve! Will be useful for ordering the right drink.
记得英国朋友去亚洲或其他非英语系地区旅游,餐厅侍应生问想喝点什么? 他说:gimme a cuptee。
听不惯快速英语的侍应生一时摸不着头脑,想不到原来他想
give me a cup of tea
英国朋友也很快学会,以后要讲慢一点,才有茶喝。:D
