Here's another link to the same photo; it's been mentioned in this forum before.
Going back to the main topic of this thread, I actually see nothing wrong with translating "清宫室" into "The Qing Dynasty Room". In many societies, it is quite common to dedicate certain public facilities, such as a ballroom, a conference room, or even a navy ship, to a famous person or historical event. I was surprised to see the near unanimous objection and ridicule in the original link.

Oh, is that what it means! It's certainly some medical procedure I've never heard of. And I'm glad I've never heard of it. 
Yeah, in that case, it is pretty funny.
It used to be referred to categorically as 妇科, as I recall. I thought the whole idea was to gradually progress towards a more civilized society. To have gory signs of specific medical procedures plastered around a hospital like that certainly shoots down that theory.

这种事经常和领导不重视有关。
现在能进医院的就算不全是上过大学的，至少也应该上过中专或高中，不可能这么大一医院没人看出来清宫室的英文不可能是“Qing Dynasty Room”。多半是领导觉得单拿一块牌子返工比较麻烦，懒得改了。
看过一家中国银行营业厅里一个个人业务自助厢上面的“Personal”写成了“Persond”。北京能进中行的一般都至少上过大学，不可能没人注意到这个字写错了。我印象有次看见老外来，中行的人还用英文和老外说话。但他们还是懒得改。

我看不一定是机器翻的. 搁我也会理解成 "清代御室", 架不住从来没有经历或留意过强行计划生育的一段中国历史.
倒是医院的大夫们应该多少懂点英文.
