请问如何填写Invoice Number？

请教各位同仁，

如何填写Invoice Number？

客户给我的PO中只有PO NUMBER，没有Invoice Number。以前我一直都是在Invoice中加上PO NUMBER，然后发给accounting department，对方也从没有向我要过Invoice Number。今天突然向我索要新发给他的invoice的Invoice Number。我不知道如何填写，就发了email询问。对方回复“Providers usually use a combination of client id, month, year and number”。我还是不知如何填写（number指的是什么）？

向各位请教。

自己随便编就行，只是为交流和归档方便。
一般是地域+客户+日期，其他随便。没那么重要，只要能分清就行，就是说不要与其他客户及其他发票弄混就行

比如这是我给这个客户做的第一个活，我的invoice编号就是001。
