这里的理念英文里指的就是一个idea,没有必要用concept。市场经济价值我认为没有必要直译,否则一句话里会用到好几个value。你翻译当中用的value of up to,为什么要用一个up to呢?,if you charge by word, you might be able to make some extra $$$, 但是用在这儿完全是多余的

水平高的翻译即使价钱不高,做出来的活也不会差的。就像袁说的,你如果嫌价格低,就不接,接了就要做出最高水平。一个翻译的水平在那,像做差点也做不出来,除非他/她故意乱翻,不过好像没有人会这么做。 | |

关于“不多给钱就不好好做”,我看还是不要乱猜。
人人的心里都有一杆秤,译者做事也不例外。具体到翻译事务,除了水平和技术的因素外就是时间和精力了。它要衡量能花在译文上的时间和精力,而这将在一定程度上决定译文的质量。

这个问题再简单不过了。如果翻译公司出低价,那他们只能找到水平一般甚至是不合格的翻译。一个翻译的水平不随价格变动而改变。我看过老袁说的那些翻的很烂的稿件,英入中,那些翻译啊,就算我给他/她一个字20美分,他/她还是会翻成那烂样。翻译的水平不是说我给你个好价钱就可以提高的。做自由翻译得给自己准确定位,定一个最低价,低于这个,坚决不做。一天翻多少,也要定好,不能通过求数量来达到增加收入的目的。这样做会累坏自己,而且你的单价永远都上不去。 | | | Zhoudan Local time: 10:33 English to Chinese + ...

现在我明白了,那样说话其实很RUDE。正确的表达应该是:
“Did you know that。。。”
我们这些英语不是母语又是在成年之后才出国的人,到了英语语言环境里,会感觉到英语还是需要不断地加强,也许倾其一生都学不完。昨天我感觉我就是使用了汉语的语感来理解一句英语,险些酿成大错。事情是这样的:
有篇新闻里的一句话是:Will Google become another Mocrosoft?
我看这句话的时候,心目中首先是把它变成了汉语:谷歌会变成下一个(另一个)微软吗/微软第二吗?
这句中文给人的印象首先是,微软很糟糕,很不成功, 而且这层意思很强烈。
因为我产生上述印象,吓得我想在低价抛售微软的股票。
回过神来想想,这句话的英文其实就是想说GOOGLE的业务将来会不会越来越像微软,两个公司是否会变得越来越类似。虽然暗含微软不怎么样的意思,但这层含义远远不如其中文译文那样强烈。
上述的英文及其中译,看似完全对应,语义的侧重点和强烈程度却有很大的区别。
不知道我说得对不对。

不然,译者说就你那价还要什么质量,翻译公司说就你那质量还想要什么价,这个话题就扯不完鸟。对自己的声誉也不太负责任。
