Although there are some alternatives that can be used to receive money, (moneybookers being one of the most famous), we have to admit that paypal is the most used way of payment. Very few alternatives are as famous as Paypal and when you redirect people towards these alternatives, they are very reluctant because they don't know them
I have several times be approched by potential clients who run away when I tell them that I cannot be paid via paypal.
Is the non availabilty of paypal in your country making you miss some good job opportunities?
How do you cope with this impossibilty of being paid through Paypal? ▲ Collapse

Wire Transfer
Jul 20, 2010
Hello Sawal,
it bothers me too. I just tell the client we accept wire transfer only and they don't seem to mind.
I don't know if I lost some potential clients because of this - they didn't tell me.

Same in Egypt
Jul 20, 2010
Hi Sawal,
I am having the same problem here in Egypt. It is really annoying because many clients are only using PayPal while it is unavailable in my country.
Yes, I have lost many potential clients because of this issue. I wonder why PayPal do not make their service available around the world!
I do not know who to blame, PayPal, clients or my country!!!

Wire Transfer within branches of the same bank of within banks from the same regional group are OK. However, when it is between continents it can be very expensive....
I remember a small job that I did for a company in the US. We ended up agreeing that the amount should be kept by the company and added to any other job I will do for them, because they paid only by wire transfer or Paypal. I never got any job offer from this company anymore
Now I agree on payment method before starting to translate...
