Multifetal gestation/pregnancy? A definition from an article published on Medscape:

The term multifetal gestation includes twins, triplets, and higher-order multiples. Multiple births are increasing in the United States and account for a large proportion of neonatal morbidity and mortality. In addition, these pregnancies often present a challenge in management for the obstetrician.

Does it fit the context?

Can refer to humans, too. 'Multiple births' would make more sense if it was not related to genetics.

In a non-genetic context:

"In today's society, multi-child families are no longer so large." (I know grammatically it's incorrect if translated one-to-one.)

Hard one to translate to say the least! I am glad I am not responsible for its translation. :-))

I had very similar idea, just wondering could it be used speaking about people:) maybe it would be correct to translate this term simply as 'multiple births'?

Daugia > Multi + vaisiškumas > fruitiness = high fertility rate?
