cereo

Italian to English Other Mining & Minerals / Gems
L'onice è caratterizzata da una lucentezza liscia e cerea con bande curve di colore bruno e bianco o nero e bianco.

How should I best translate cereo in this context? Can only think of 'dull' (as in 'dull brilliance' ) but I'm not sure this is entirely appropriate...

I think this is the correct translation (pale like wax)

Thanks Marika, Yes, I did think of waxen but I'm not sure we would refer to a black onyx as being waxen or pale in English.
