Derek Sorry Derek, I tried posting a thank-you reply for you as well but it did not work out & I am adding it here. Thanks for your help and sorry for replying so late.

arc suppression coil

arcing between contactor tips shortens the life of the tips and causes an electomagnetic discharge that disturbs radio equipment as well. Magnets or field generating coils are used to quench these quickly and reduce damage.

puffer

Hi Alexxx
This appears to be a highly specific area of technology so I'm afraid I can't offer too much to assist you. I notice that some arc extuinquishing systems use a blast of inert gas to blow the arc away from the contacts and the device responsible for this action is referred to as a "puffer" on several sites. More than that I cannot add, so the spira and magnetico remain a mystery in the context, although the sites I have visited refer in various context to magnetic fields, loops and indeed coils.
As for the technical dictionary, afaik there are no printed reference works that are sufficiently up to date in this fast-moving field so the Internet probably remains your best source.
All the best
Derek
