Italian term
bloccante
Italian to English
Tech/Engineering
Computers: Software
medical software/hardware
The context is a tech. support contact for a medical imaging system, where a "problema bloccante" will be addressed within four hours of the tech. support dept. receiving the request.
"L’intervento (nel caso di problema bloccante) viene garantito entro le 4 (quattro) ore lavorative successive alla richiesta inoltrata telefonicamente dal Contraente"
This is in the Proz glossaries as "terminating" but I'm not sure the client means this. I think they mean any problem (HW or SW) which means the machine/SW system cannot function, and so patients cannot be processed.
I'm looking for other UKEN ways of saying this.
Any suggestions?

Just a suggestion. I think I have heard the term used in this way.

Comment: "The client (not the man from Del Monte) said yes.
Many thanks."
+2
1 hr
in case of system breakdown
*breakdown* could also be *malfunction* or *failure*. hope this helps on a drowsy Sunday morning
1 day 1 hr
halting problem
Renderei il più chiaramente possibile il significato: ovvero un problema che blocca l'azione successiva, al fine di rendere più fluida e chiara la traduzione.
Discussion
"Showstopper" is very good if a little too informal for a document like a contract.
