This is about pitching an idea for a TV show.

I'm confused by the phrase "in forma quasi sceneggiata" because it sounds to me like "as if it were a TV show", but it IS a TV show, so how else could you possible describe it? Or is it just underlining the importance of describing the visual element of the program?

There's quite a lot of leeway "In forma sceneggiata" doesn't necessarily mean in the form of a film script. It can also mean, as somebody suggested, "in dramatic form".

I'd say something like: "telling the story above all visually, and even dramatically in scenes, rather than in theoretic or abstract form".

Agreed I agree - to interpret it as "sticking to the script" would actually contradict what the writer has said thus far, which encourages dynamism and creativity. I think this is more to do with dramatizing his words and "setting the scene", metaphorically speaking.

The important thing is that this is a verbal pitch, with one or two people invited to pitch the idea. Those pitching are encouraged to use visual and dramatic language and to evoke actual scenes: "We cut back to the boy's home. He's lying in the garage, not moving. The family dog sniffs around him, whining..."

I think a number of the suggestions given would do. I wouldn't be too hung up on quasi as "almost": it can mean "more or less" or "roughly" (as in the English "quasi").

Spelling it out In that case, perhaps I should spell it out so there's no ambiguity. Something like... "you should draw on concrete examples and talk particularly about the project’s graphic elements, so that they almost feel as though they are watching the show there and then"

Something like that Like putting on a bit of a performance so that the people you're pitching to almost feel like they're watching the show itself, seeing it the way you do. The focus of the pitch isn't on the idea, which is more abstract, but rather on the experience, which is more concrete.

Almost acting it out? I think it means getting so into it that you're almost acting out some scenes yourself, voicing different characters, making the facial expressions, and so on. Dramatizing the whole concept. Like:

"So the boss is all gruff and growly and 'profits before people' [voices character] but actually it's all an act and really inside he's a big softie [makes googly eyes]"

Now you know why I'm not a screenwriter but you get the idea!

Yes, the idea is that of a script or screenplay, as the colleagues suggested. Stick with the script and stay away from abstract considerations.

I'm a bit relunctant to post an answer because I have nothing really to back up my reading of the sentence, but maybe it's worth a shot anyway.

So I think the idea is of painting a vivid picture of the storyline and characters, focusing on the visual and emotive aspect of the show rather than any message or deeper meaning (if there is one), drawing the backers in and making them feel like they're watching the scenes.

Like staging a play or performance, acting various bits out, voicing different characters. Selling the experience more than the overarching concept.

In fact it may make more sense to treat raccontando soprattutto quel che si vede, in forma quasi sceneggiata as the unit of translation here. I think you can allow yourself some poetic licence to get the meaning across.
