Salve, sto traducendo un cv dall'italiano all'inglese, e c'è un sostantivo che, dato il contesto, necessita del corrispondente inglese che in questo caso penso si debba inventare. Metto la frase intera con il sostantivo fra virgolette, e a seguire per chiarezza l'intera frase tradotta con il sostantivo tradotto fra virgolette.

Attualmente sono iscritta al corso Magistrale nella facoltà di Scienze della società e della formazione ''d’area'' mediterranea, corso di laurea in programmazione e gestione delle politiche e dei servizi sociali (inizio ottobre 2011).

Poichè quel ''d'area'' penso si riferisca all'area di studi mediterranei, ho ampliato abbastanza la traduzione del termine :

I am enrolled on a 2-year specialization course at the faculty of education and social sciences, ''centre for mediterranean studies'', master's degree course in programming and management of the political and the social services. (starting date october 2011)

Others call it Institute, instead of Centre- you have to see the country/university concerned

My link is to the Università per Stranieri D.A. in Reggio Calabria, where the course focuses on the Mediterranean area, and your question was how to translate "area". There are other similar courses at other Universities (Milano-Bicocca is one), but they don't focus on the Mediterranean area.

area Mediterranea = the Mediterranean area IMO "area" refers to the geographical M. area/region
This Master's course deals with the planning and management of social policies and services for (with special reference to) the Mediterranean area and it's offered by the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences for the Mediterranean area/region

Centre Your original idea of "centre" could work but I think you need to be wary of it. Some institutions have a "center" but this is not always aligned to the academic courses it may offer.

Rosario This sentence contains several mistakes, and you should get your translation edited by an English native speaker. Most importantly, it doesn't say "2-year specialisation course". This is someone's CV, so a high-quality translation is important.

In UK we usually have different "schools" or "departments" within faculties. Sometimes these deal with specialized studies of a certain region or place, and sometimes they deal with a particular range of topics.
Example sentence:
