Italian term

ritorno editoriale

Italian to English Marketing Advertising / Public Relations
Anche negli =paese= le aziende della moda e del lusso hanno ripreso a crescere: circa xxx milioni sono stati spesi da inizio anno con ***ritorni editoriali*** pari a yyy milioni.

This is taken from a text on display ads and editorials. I assume they are talking about the revenue generated by the advertisements, but I am not sure who pocketed the money (the advertising companies or the papers the ads were in).
How do I translate it?
thanks everybody

Discussion

philgoddard Sep 7, 2011:
This looks like an odd turn of phrase if Google is anything to go by- all the hits I looked at meant "publishing comeback", for example a magazine that had been out of print and was now on sale again.

I'm not clear what is meant by "sono stati spesi"- could this mean total ad spend (compared to print media spend), or is it the amount spent by consumers? Some more context would help.
