French term

le cordon ou collerette présente une bonne tenue

French to English Art/Literary Wine / Oenology / Viticulture chamapgne

I am trying to avoid saying bubble three times. May be effervescence for the first time would work.

or rather : the bubble ring is persistent

agree Nick Lingris : I think "holds well" is fine. Mark's already got 'persistent' before that.

Thank you, you're right: two persistents + three bubbles in the same sentence is a heavy drink to swallow

the bubble ring looks appealing enough

The bubble ring or collar (formed by the champagne bubbles).

In reply to Mark\'s note:
Yes, effervescence for \'la bulle\' is fine, appears in many descriptions (e.g. It has a brilliant aspect and effervescence is lively and long-lasting).
You can also throw in \'collerette\' next to \'bubble ring\'. It seems to be quite a popular term in English sites (bubble ring or \'collerette\').
Peer comment(s):

neutral Emérentienne : I wouldn't say appealing, it's more like long lasting.

You may well be right. It's not one of the things I notice in a champagne's behaviour :-}

the bubble ring appears to be in good condition

This would apply for an older bottle, and I think this might be the case, is it?
