Les guipures de laine n'étaient faites nulle part aussi bien
qu'en Auvergne. Ce fil un peu rebelle aux croisements des fuseaux donnait une dentelle épaisse à laquelle il ne fallait demander aucune délicatesse de dessin, mais qui s'harmonisait parfaitement
avec les robes en drap auxquelles elle servait de garniture

Le filet-guipure, qui connut une grande popularité au cours de la seconde moitié du XIXème siècle, se réalise généralement sur un réseau à larges mailles avec des points très variés. Le relief des motifs, particulièrement travaillé, anime des fleurs, des feuilles et des formes géométriques diverses. Les parties denses au point de toile et les parties ajourées au point d’esprit s’associent à des décors inspirés de la dentelle à l’aiguille - dentelures, araignées, triangles - exécutés au point de reprise, en lançant des fils très près les uns des autres pour obtenir des motifs particulièrement denses.

This is, of course, assuming that we are talking about textiles and not electrical wire. In which case, in bobbin lace making, the threads are lapped over/crossed over each other repeatedly to form the pattern so it would fit with that idea. As far as electrical shielding goes...

I TAKE THAT BACK. I didn\'t read your question properly. Though I don\'t have the context, I tend to think \"fil\" here is not \"wire\" but \"thread\" or \"yarn\". Some threads/yarns have other threads or yarns wrapped around them, notably in the case of knitting yarns where another colour or a metallic thread is wrapped around the inner yarn for decorative effect.

The original post was about adding a filament to another thread for machine stitching. What I think was meant about the original question was the use of Balger Blending Filament. This is a thin, polyester metallic thread wrapped around a core polyester thread. It is very lightweight and comes in a multitude of metallic shades. It is manufactured by the Kreinik corp. I
have used the Balger blending filament for hand embroidery and especially smocking. It gives a nice sheen,

WITH YOUR additional comment I understand better why you hesitate between \"wire\" and \"thread\"! Not easy.

Maybe if we knew more about the object of the patent? E.g. does it concern a motor or some other electrical device?

It sounds like one thread covered with a sheath of another thread / other threads, to make it thicker, or to raise it to give an embossed effect.
