Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Jane Proctor (X)

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

agree chris collister : Take your pick, but Sangro's "data traffic" is a better choice.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I agree that "transactions" is not really the best choice. I thought of data transmission as well. "

data transactions

Although data may be "consumed" by devices, it is rarely described as such in EN. Rather it is "processed" or "exchanged" during each transaction. I would rephrase the sentence as "70% of data transactions are via Smartphones", or something similar.

or perhaps "... with Smartphones (being) responsible for 70% of data traffic..."
Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Yes, though do note it is 'wifi offload accounts for 70% of s/ph data transactions...' / LOL! me too... I have friends whose phones are SO smart, they can do almost anything you can think of... except actually make and receive calls ;-)

Astonishing figures - I use my 1 euro telephone as a telephone. How quaint.
agree Sandra & Kenneth Grossman : or Smartphones account for 60% of data traffic

Yes, that works - even 70%....
neutral Daryo : "transaction" implies a finite exchange both ways for a defined purpose (as in "an ATM transaction") here it's just about the volume of an undifferentiated data flow - just counting megabytes. KB and MB are not units of "transaction".

Let's not split hairs, but there are alternatives, of course...
