\"lifelines\" is sometimes used in the UK for \"filières\" but all the rules and regs I\'ve seen in original (BE) language versions would retain this for \"ligne de vie\" - cf. RORC race rules, Seahorse Magazine, SOLAS documents, etc. Also borne out by A-Z of Sailing Terms, Peter Kemp, OUP. However, I have seen original US language texts using \"lifelines\" for \"filières\" and John Rousmanière\'s Illustrated Dictionary of Boating Terms does not make the distinction the Brits generally do. You may wish to amend your glossary entry to include this UK/US distinction.
