Note that the large concrete cooling towers associated with nuclear power stations are "aéroréfrigérants". However, they can also refer more generally to heat exchangers where the final cooling medium is air, as in the "radiator" of a large diesel engine through which air is forced.

Or the cooling system.

I think the text is referring to the cooling towers or the cooling system in general. Is that borne out by the larger context?
