français term

hyperleucocytose à polynucléaires neutrophiles

français vers anglais Médecine Médecine : cardiologie Bloods
Hi all,

This is from a doctor's letter about a patient with a wide range of problems. He has had a quadruple bypass, suffers from intermittent claudication and has just been put on parenteral nutrition. It says (under the sub-heading 'Biologiquement...'):

On retrouve des LDH discre`tement augmentés a` 392, des gamma GT a` 214 et un syndrome inflammatoire avec CRP a` 52 et une hyperleucocytose a` polynucléaires neutrophiles a` 10 600.

Thanks in advance!

neutral philgoddard : I'm more inclined to vote for this because Bertrand's answer gets one Google hit and yours gets 32, but you haven't said why you think you're right and he's wrong.

Because polynuclear is not right for me. The abbreviation is PMN, polymorphonuclear. And this is a ref from AJMS!
neutral liz askew : oops, wrong box

PMN leukocytosis

also "neutrophil(ic) leukocytosis", "elevated WBC (PMN 10,600/ul)", or similar

Hyperleukocytosis is defined as a white blood count >50,000 (leukemoid reaction) - unlike the French hyperleucocytose which refers to any elevated WBC.

agree Helen Genevier : with a preference for the elevated wbc (etc.) option
