On trouve aussi "working shot"
"Fascinating gallery of portraits — most of them "work shots" taken on the set for promotional purposes — presents top American movie directors (1903-82) in some 200 striking photographs." (lien ci-dessous)

TonyM has succeeded in making me unsure of everything! Consider this link explaining a "plan de travail" in this context and download the releted spreadsheet.

I'll quite while I'm ahead and leave someone else to decide what this might be called - I think Gayle's suggestion is the closest so far to what this is but I'm no specialist.

French term (edited):
plan de travail
storyboard
Although this is not the usual term I am familiar with, it seems the most likely complement to the 2 other items mentioned for the illustration of this sort of book.

OK, then, in the light of the latest ref. so kindly provided by Eutychus, I'm clearly wrong — what that reference clearly and unambiguously refers to is called a 'shooting schedule'

: Tony - that's what I posted earlier, with appropriate refs. :-)

I think these are more likely to be the 'shooting schedules' and/or 'call sheets' — there seems to be some woolliness in the way different writers use the same terms.

David BUICK
: In my experience, the French for this is "le storyboard" or "le story": artist's impressions of the shot prior to filming, whereas a "work shot" is (I think) a rough shot taken during filming.

I'm not fam; with 'work shot', but your description sounds like a production still (nothing rough about it!) — but again, this is not the FR term I am used to for those either...

Yes, I think Eutychus has at last come up with the right definition, which makes perfect sense in the given context
