I know it sounds odd, but this is based on the following definition from GDT for 'appropriation sociale':
Définition :
Processus par lequel une personne intègre l'innovation technologique dans ses comportements familiers et l'adapte à ses besoins quotidiens.
Note that the English translation given by the GDT is 'enactment', but I am not sure how would fit into your sentence.
