French term

aile (d'un pignon)

French to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering pinions
The definition is "Nom donné aux dents d'un pignon".
GDT proposes "leaf" though this isn't part of the definition of "leaf" in the Merriam Websters.
A KudoZ search turns up lots of "ailes" but no leaves, only wings!
Perhaps someone can confirm/correct ?
Many thanks.

Thanks Susan. "Tooth" corresponds to "dent", I'm looking for the English synonym that is equivalent to the French synonym of "aile". I'm very familiar with the website you refer to, I'll check it out further. Thanks for reminding me about it!
Sandra Petch (asker) Feb 17, 2006:
It's about mechanics (a mechanism).
chaplin Feb 17, 2006:
is your text about mechanics or architecture?
