Hello, I'm not sure that "dérive" is best translated by "dispute." It's more about a situation taking a a turn for the worse, imo.

As one of my answerers said, my question was unclear. The word I was really looking for is "dérive". I therefore selected Michael's reply as it seems to be the most appropriate in the context of a law firm's brochure. Many thanks to all my answerers for their help. Will try and be more clear next time !

I think that "dérive" just means that the situation has taken a turn for the worse.
