: Signed "by" both parties? I know it means both are present too, but "in the presence of" could mean it was someone else signing with them as witnesses.

what I meant by standard meaning is that found in Dalloz, Robert,& other standard references. "in presence of the parties" for contradictoirement. Does not that seem consistent with what you have written elsewhere?
