French term

barre tirée dans des blancs

French to English Bus/Financial General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Pls note this is a whole term, I understand that this may refer to the actual format of the deed, probably as in spain, on the notary's paper and this means that there is a line going from one side or coner of the page to the other downwards for all blank pages? That's my guess haven't found any info on it so help much appreciated for the purchase of a property.

Tony M Aug 5, 2013:
Term search? Did you look in the glossary? I am certain this has come up before at some point,t hough you might have to search on a sub-unit to find it.

See several previous KudoZ glossary entries (not all of which I agree with, but you've plenty of choice.

agree Jennifer White : Easily found in the glossary - has come up at least 5 times before.

Yes I agree Jennifer
disagree Tony M : You can't 'delete' a 'blank space'; 'barre' means that a line is drawn through it. / Your ref. is badly worded, but refers to deleting spurious leading / trailing typographic spaces, which is quite different from the context here.

disagree B D Finch : As Tony says, you cannot delete a blank space.//It is, as your ref. shows, possible to delete a blank space in some electronic formats, however it is not possible to do so on paper.

neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : Agree with Tony's explanation : "blank spaces struck through"

neutral John ANTHONY : There is a huge difference between "struck through" and "deleted"... You cannot "delete" a blank from a printed document...!
