French term

consoles en dématérialisées

French to English Other Games / Video Games / Gaming / Casino
Text on video adventure games: the following are described as currently booming gaming formats:
"Web browser, Facebook, Consoles en dématérialisées (PSN, Xbox Live) et Web TV".

I have seen "dématérialisé" used in terms of "paperless" procedures. What does it mean here? "Virtual", perhaps?

online gaming consoles

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Live

Xbox Live (trademarked as Xbox LIVE[1]) is an online multiplayer gaming and digital media delivery service created and operated by Microsoft Corporation. It is currently the only online gaming service (on consoles) that charges users a fee to play multiplayer gaming.

Two choices:

1. Online gaming consoles (more specific, which I prefer)
2. Virtual consoles (your original inkling)

neutral philgoddard : I don't know much about computer games, but I'm not sure your first option is right - it still means something you can hold in your hand and use to play online, whereas dématérialisée just means something on a website, so I think "virtual" is more likely

Well, I looked carefully at its definition and that is what it said.
agree Emma Paulay : I did similar research and came to the same conclusion: http://www.screendigest.com/reports/10_03_12_digitally_deliv...

Downloadable games
