French term
arraché
French to English
Tech/Engineering
Forestry / Wood / Timber
From a list of types of parquet:
Chêne raboté (planed oak)
Chêne brossé (brushed oak)
Chêne arraché (?? oak)
I have seen this (tumbled) http://www.proz.com/kudoz/french_to_english/construction_civ...
So I'm trying to decide between tumbled, distressed, and cross-sawn oak.
I am finding legitimate references for all three on my short list, and it seems tumbled is probably a sub-category of distressed... so I'm leaning towards tumbled!
Here is a nice ref: http://www.fineoakflooring.co.uk/antique-oak-flooring-cross-...
The reason I am also considering "cross-sawn" is this kudoz here, it got me thinking about types of cuts http://www.proz.com/kudoz/french_to_english/tech_engineering...
Please help me think this through!

A particular way of working the surface
I don't know what it is called in English, but here's a picture. Remove space to use link.

On the other hand, it could be your suggestion of "tumbled" as the sort of surface in my ref. picture wouldn't really do for flooring.
