Discussion

MatthewLaSon Nov 15, 2007:
Lany Chabot-Laroche (asker) Nov 15, 2007:

gin and tonic-themed test tube shot glass

Hello,

I'm not sure, but this may be what you're talking about.

Perhaps, this is a test tube shot glass used specifically for gin and tonic preparations or one that has a gin and tonic design on it. I'm not sure (maybe it's both LOL)

Why is gin and tonic capitalized in French here?

I hope this helps.
Note from asker:
Most items on the menu were capitalized, not just this one.
Peer comment(s):

agree jean-jacques alexandre : but I would do without the "themed" // you got me convinced, I'll buy it

Thanks, Jean-Jacques! You could do without it, I reckon... But, again, you can indeed "a ....-themed shot glass"

Criterion on the theme of Gin Tonic

I think you mean to translate éprouvette? A direct translation could be test, which could also be understood as criterion.

A gin-tonic themed test

A gin-tonic themed test?
Note from asker:

Sample based on the theme of Gin Tonic

It is the content and not the quantity, probably to check the quality of the Gin Tonic.

Then, I feel it should be the Tulip shaped sample glass, in which most of the sampling of wines and liquor are made.

As far as I know, we use test tubes only for taking a sample for analysis, and not for drinking. You can check up with the chef you mentioned.
Note from asker:
It actually is the glass in which the drink is served. The chef seems very.. particular.
It really is a test tube, as linked by Mattew.

gin and tonic served in a test tube

Test tubes are the new trend in shot glasses.
