French term

aspect frondeur

French to English Other Food & Drink agri-food export / Quebec French
I know frondeur means rebel, maverick, troublemaker but what idea they are trying to convey in this context? Any suggestions?

jean-jacques alexandre Apr 25, 2007:
It's just a marketing attitude, going against the main trend, making it's mark

Yes, I did that I already did my research before I posted. I still can't see how culinary know-how can be "frondeur".

closer to the meaning of "frondeur" that isn't an exact synonym of "révolutionnaire". A "fronde" is an opposition, not a revolution.

agree Carol Gullidge : as in Collins Robert (rebellious with double l)

trailblazing/maverick/nonconformist aspect

I like this idea of yours.

"trailblazing" - not terribly literal, but is perhaps good for a marketing article...
Peer comment(s):

agree Alison Jeffries-Thierry : I like trailblazing ... not too keen on aspect though - 'character' or something maybe?

thanks, Alison. Yes, I think "character" is much nicer
