French term

French to English Other Engineering (general) storage of products
Help please. This is a text about storing various products and rétention is used several times

Discussion

B D Finch Oct 20, 2017:
@philgoddard While a sump is a form of containment, it would be more appropriate for a garage than for a kitchen.
jethro (asker) Oct 19, 2017:
Sorry, I see you meant sump as in a pit/hole in the floor. hors retention no spill containment structure/system???
jethro (asker) Oct 19, 2017:
Still in the same text: Les bacs de rétention des produits dangereux sont trop petits par rapport au volume des bidons stockés

so maybe hors retention and sans retention means outside retention tank and without retention tank???
jethro (asker) Oct 19, 2017:
That sounds good. Thanks a lot. so hors retention would be without a sump (pump)???
philgoddard Oct 19, 2017:
It sounds like it might be a sump to stop them leaking into the ground.

French term (edited): [hors] rétention
Selected

[without/outside of] spillage containment (trays / systems / kits ...)

here:

"rétention" = various systems employed to contain spillage / prevent spillage spreading everywhere = spill / spillage containment equipment

more:

Produit corrosif hors rétention: some corrosif products were stored directly on the floor (or on shelves) instead of storing them on top of some spillage containment system (trays, pallets etc)

Bidons d’huile de cuisine au sol sans rétention; same strory - instead of storing on top of some spillage containment trays or pallets, these drums/canisters were stored directly on the floor

bidons empilés sur les rétentions: too many drums piled up on top of the pillage containment trays or pallets
