French term

appareils encastrés

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng lighting/light fittings
Série d’appareils encastrés pour lampes fluorescentes 2x55W TC-L, halogènes 12V et iodures métalliques

This is from a series of notes on various types of light fittings. Can anyone suggest a good translation for this term. For 'encastré' my Harraps suggests the idea of 'flush-fitting' or 'set in' - or even 'built-in' - but I am still not quite sure exactly what these devices are, as I have no picture to go by. I am sure someone out there will have an idea! Thanks in advance.

flush fitting fixtures

That's what I would call them if they are light fixtures.

Built-in would be more for ovens, fridges, dishwashers etc.

agree Tony M : Yes, and in fact, it could even be simplified to 'flush fittings', which might be handy if it recurs frequently!
